We all hope that we will not have to face financial hardship or major health problems; need help supporting our children or require extra care in our old age. In reality thousands of people every year need a little extra assistance. We, as Freemasons, are fortunate to have that support at hand. The newly launched “Freemasonry Cares” is there to make sure Freemasons and their dependants, in need of support, get it.
Freemasonry Cares is a joint initiative involving the four central Masonic Charities and West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity and is a gateway to the help they can provide. It aims to increase awareness of that help and to make it easier to access via a Freephone number-----
Rather than expect a potential applicant to remember and understand that there are five Masonic Charities offering many different types of help; the Freephone number will give you direct access the West Lancashire Freemasons’ Charity Office, in Huyton, which is manned Monday to Friday between
10.00 am and 03.00 pm ( a mesage can be left outside these hours). They will record your details and, if you meet the criteria, will then make contact with the Provincial Grand Almoner, who will then contact the relevant charity and will forward your request to a member of the Provincial Care Team to progress the necessary action. An Almoner will visit and assist you to complete the application form.
Criteria to be met:
-
You must have a Masonic connection
-
You must have a need within the charities’ guidelines
-
You must meet the financial criteria of the charity
This initiative provides a unique opportunity to make sure those who, in the past, may not have been well versed in the existence or operation of our Masonic Charities (especially wives, partners and widows of Masons) are now brought up to date with the help available to them. |
